Enterprise mashup platform

Mashups give organizations the power to create, customize, and collaborate leading to faster decisions and better business results. The client sought a strong technical product development team that could do R&D, implement features with minimal, explicit requirements, and adapt to changing product strategy for a brand new platform product to be released soon.

Challenges and highlights

1. Imaginea's team had to understand their domain, priorities and processes, and offer technical expertise to enhance the architecture working as an extended customer team.
2. Imaginea contributed right from the requirement phase. At this point, development of an Eclipse™-based tool — a replacement of an existing tool, posed considerable challenges. The new tool later impressed the customer.
3. The platform framework kept evolving, extending the requirement and scope phase, and affecting the design scope, scalability and fexibility. Yet, Imaginea adhered to the aggressive deadlines and met all design and performance criteria.
4. The platform revamp and addition of an object oriented layer to the obfuscated JavaScript kernel was extremely demanding, especially since this was a product in use.
5. Performance and size-limiting were the key requirements, especially since the kernel framework was ten times faster than the nearest commercial rival.
6. The team was completely in sync with the customer, so much so that Imaginea was asked to directly interact with their customers.
7. Imaginea's work on the platform and other tools and components exceeded their expectations and Imaginea was asked to take on more responsibilities such as interoperability, performance, demo applications, technical publications and professional services.

The result was dynamic enterprise mashups that leverage internal and external data while meeting demanding enterprise security and governance requirements.
