Engineering monetization solutions
A leading provider of global monetization solutions for online games and social networks partnered with Imaginea to bring virtual goods and in-app purchases to more people all over the world. The challenge for Imaginea was to mold the client's monetization platform to integrate variety of global payment methods so that publishers and developers could tap into consumers all over the world. It was a tight-rope walk to provide an out-of-the-box integration solution for publishers while keeping the consumers hooked to a native and immersive in-app experience.
Team Imaginea re-engineered several payment methods to support new platform improvements. Integrating new payment methods required hardcore PHP, Ruby on Rails, and JavaScript development effort from the engineering team. JSON format was used for payload and REST API for state-less web services. We also had to ensure that whenever a new payment method was developed it worked exactly the same as the legacy code was and that no newer defects crept into the system.
Over 50 payment methods were released and Imaginea delivered it 2 weeks ahead of schedule with zero bugs. Some of the major integrations were: DaoPay, Alipay and Beanstream. Today, its digital goods commerce platform enables users to make safe, convenient and friendly in-app purchases using over 85 global payment methods in 180 countries.
Imaginea also helped the client conquer the social space by integrating the platform with Facebook Credits for over 60 countries. Bringing the convenience of over 85+ global payment methods to Facebook implied that both Facebook and the client could tap into a whole new set of markets. In fact, over 1 million credits are purchased every day, via the platform, on Facebook.
