SaaS based EHR
A leading provider of clinical solutions and interactive services to healthcare industry saw a great opportunity in providing an electronic health records (EHR) offering targeted at the unique needs of more than 50 percent of US physicians - solo and small group physicians practices. The offering would bring client's gold-standard drug and safety content to address physicians' EHR requirements.
They needed a well-tested and robust yet quickly-built solution to help increase adoption and reinforce its position of pioneering innovative mobility solutions. Their product managers trusted Ruby on Rails' reputation and Imaginea's expertise to get to the market first.
The mandate for our team was to own - implement, test, deploy - complete product modules of the EHR using the Java-based Common Services Framework. The challenge was to build a robust and highly scalable EHR web application for medical enterprises like health clinics and hospitals with multiple integration points with enterprise systems, and third party vendor systems. The EHR modules were implemented in JRuby on RAILS, with front-end scripted in jQuery, HAML and SASS. In addition, plug-ins like Formtastic, Shoulda, Jammit, Factory-Girl were used for productive development and testing. The common services were running on Active MQ.
